In the end, it was Barry Greenstein who emerged on top, outlasting fellow final table finalists James Tippin, Randy Jensen, Tony Hartmann, Can Kim Hua, and David Reese.

As each and every season of the World Poker Tour passes by, the World Poker Open seems to pull off one surprise after another. In the third season, it was Johnny Stolzmann who won the tournament. The following season, the event became known as the Gold Strike World Poker Open. This time, it was Scotty Nguyen who dominated his opponents. In the fifth and latest installment of the tournament, Bryan Sumner was declared the winner after overcoming a tough challenge from Daniel Negreanu.
